The general scientific objectives of plasma package on YH-1 are to study the solar wind and atmosphere interaction, and to characterize the plasma environment in the near-Mars space through in-situ plasma measurements.

The Plasma package consists of two identical ion analyzers, and one electron analyzer. The ion analyzer Ion energy/mass/angle resolved spectra in the energy range of 0.01 to 40 keV; 1-40 atomic mass units per unit charge (amu/q);, and with 360°160° coverage. The electron analyzer measures electron spectra in energy range of 0.02 eV to 10 keV, with 9°120° coverage.
